Pool Problems

After returning from the beach are pool seemed a little cloudy. We were using Baquacil and this is only our 2nd year with the pool and didn't really know what was wrong. Baquacil is a product that does not use chlorine to sanitize your pool. It is a bigunide type product, which means that it is chlorine free. Anyways I will spare you a bunch of boring details about chemicals and basically get the the point here. Baqua-crap as a refer to it know is very expensive about 400-500 a season to open our little pool. Why did we decided to use it? Well our pool rep. told us it is the BEST and easiest way to maintain your pool...crap if you ask me now.

Okay so back to the story. When we got home from vacation the pool was a little cloudy. We called our pool rep. who told us to "shock it" which means to dump a bunch of sanitizer in it to clean the germs. Okay so we did that, didn't get better..mind you each jug of sanitizer is $30. We took a water sample in and were told PH was high, needed to purchase PH decreaser, did that at $15, didn't help. Took another water sample in, told to floc it (means dump more chemicals in to lump fine particles of dirt together so the can be filtered) did that for a cost of $20, didn't work. Took another water sample in, told we had high phosphates, bought $40 chemical that would WORK this time...guess what? it didn't. We then decided to switch pool stores....they advised up to switch to Chlorine.

This time I called my brother-in law who is a pool rep. in Atlanta. He advised of the same thing. So after countless hours of research on the web at www.troublefreepool.com, talking to my brother-in-law and help from our new pool store we managed to get the pool switched over from baquacil to chlorine.

Chlorine is much cheaper, we use liquid bleach, and our pool has never looked better.
